About YWCA

The YWCA in India continues to be challenged in empowering women and girls to face gender inequities, social and economic disparities, caste-based discrimination and other forms of violence. Today in a world ridden with environmental degradation, violation of human rights, the YWCA as one of the largest women’s movements is in a strong position to be an agent for social change.

The YWCA is a movement working for the empowerment, leadership and rights of women, young women and girls in more than 100 countries. The members and supporters include women from many different faiths, ages, backgrounds, beliefs and cultures.

In a changing world with changing needs, the YWCA of India needs to respond effectively with timely intervention in programmes and projects that specifically address the needs of marginalized communities. It calls us to be inclusive of all communities regardless of age, class, caste, creed, religion and to be committed to protecting human dignity and environment.

ABOUT US

YWCA Project Chandigarh offers comfortable hostel facilities for both students and working women. Our hostel can accommodate up to 64 residents, and since its establishment, it has consistently been at full capacity, thanks to the warm and nurturing environment we provide. In addition, we have a versatile multipurpose hall that serves as a venue for conferences, workshops, social gatherings, and various events organized by YWCA and our network partners.
